Roblox Star Codes - What They Were and What Replaced Them (2026)

Radek

If you've seen a Roblox YouTuber tell you to use their Star Code when buying Robux and wondered what that actually means, or if you've tried entering a Star Code recently and it didn't work, this guide explains everything. Including the big change Roblox quietly made at the end of 2025 that most sites haven't caught up to yet.

What Were Roblox Star Codes?

Star Codes were introduced by Roblox back in April 2019 as part of the Roblox Video Stars Program, which was basically an official group of large Roblox content creators recognized by Roblox itself. Each creator in the program got a unique Star Code that their fans could enter when buying Robux or Premium.

When you entered a creator's Star Code during a purchase:

  • You got the full amount of Robux you paid for, nothing taken away
  • The creator received a 5% bonus paid by Roblox, not by you
  • It cost you absolutely nothing extra

It was a genuinely good system. A completely free way to support creators you liked just by typing a code when you were already buying Robux anyway.

Star Codes Were Removed in October 2025

Here's the part most sites still haven't updated: Roblox removed Star Codes from the platform on October 24, 2025.

If you've tried entering a Star Code recently and it didn't work, that's why. The feature is gone. Any YouTube video or article still telling you to use a specific Star Code is outdated information.

What Replaced Star Codes?

Roblox replaced the Star Code system with a new Creator Rewards Program. Instead of earning 5% of a viewer's Robux purchase, creators now earn 1 Robux for every user who joins their game through a link in their video.

This shifts the reward away from purchases and toward actual gameplay. The idea is to reward creators for driving real players into games rather than just encouraging people to buy Robux.

For creators with big audiences who make game-focused content, this can actually earn more than the old system did. For creators who mostly did "use my Star Code" style promotional content, it's a pretty significant change.

How the New System Works for Viewers

There's nothing you need to do differently as a viewer. No code to enter anywhere. You just click the game link in a creator's video description or pinned comment, and they automatically get credit for bringing you to the game.

It's actually easier than the old way since you don't have to remember to enter anything during checkout.

What Was the Roblox Video Stars Program?

The Video Stars Program was Roblox's official creator recognition program. To qualify, creators had to meet some pretty strict requirements:

  • At least 10 million cumulative views on Roblox related videos
  • Consistent and active Roblox content creation
  • A clean account with no Terms of Service violations
  • Direct approval from Roblox after applying

It wasn't easy to get into, which is part of why Star Codes felt like a big deal when a creator had one.

Do Any Old Star Codes Still Work?

A small number of old codes still technically function due to quirks in how certain accounts were set up, but this is not reliable and Roblox hasn't kept them active on purpose. For all practical purposes, Star Codes are done and you shouldn't expect them to work if you try entering one.

How to Support Your Favorite Roblox Creators Now

With Star Codes gone, here are the best ways to support creators you like:

  • Use their game links — click through from their videos instead of searching the game directly. This gives them credit in the new Creator Rewards system.
  • Buy game passes in their games — direct revenue that goes straight to the creator
  • Watch their videos and leave a like — ad revenue still matters a lot for YouTube creators
  • Join their Roblox group — group membership and traffic to group games helps
  • Share their content — more views means more Creator Rewards earnings for them

The system changed but supporting creators is honestly still just as easy. You just do it by playing their games now instead of typing a code at checkout.
